We have a birdbox camera up and have recently had a pair of great tits nesting. They laid 7 eggs and 6 hatched and all 6 successfully fledged on the 21st May 2024. On the night following the chicks fledging the female returned to the nest box to roost in. Every night since she has returned to the box to roost in which is currently 18 nights in a row. We were wondering is this normal behaviour? We have searched online for information but can't really find anything regarding this. Thank you
Are you positive that it is the female you are watching, if so then possibly she intends to have a second brood? See this old thread here ...

We are pretty certain it is the female as we were used to seeing her every night when she slept with the chicks. It doesn't look like she is having a second brood just because she only returns to the nest on an evening to roost. We contacted greenfeathers who provide the birdbox camera and they said they have seen it with sparrows and they think she may just be using to rest in. It has been a pleasant surprise anyway as we didn't expect to see her again.
