Hi im in the process of making a large wildlife pond appox 7m x 3m i know you shouldnt keep golfish / kio in the pond but i have 4 small stickbacks in a small pond and was wondering if anyone could tell me if they would be ok in my new wildlife pond any help would be great thanks.
thanks alot for that im no expert so need all the help i can get i have put the plants in i meationed earlier and apart from being sorry for themselves because of the time of year its a start ill try and get some irises they look very nice.
i do have a lily i was given but dont know what type ill put a picture on below.
ill try to but a pic of the on every month thought the next few months then in the spring ill upload 1 more often or as i add or make changes. thanks again

The pond looks fantastic.
We put one in our garden back home about two years ago now. Made the mistake of putting siome small goldfish in which were quite promptly taken by a Heron (we assume).
The first spring it was full of frogs spawn and then lots of little frogs. We put Sticklebacks in last summer (about 20) no idea how they are doing but my reasoning was they are so small I couldnt see them doing much harm to the tadpoles etc. Besides, the kids enjoyed catching them from a local pond and all the other beaties we caught got plonked in the pond too.
When I'm home in early spring I'll take a look to see how the sticklebacks are doing.

i would love to see loads of frog spawn in my pond this year but ive lived here for 6 years and have only ever seen 1 but i get LOADS of toads and the odd newt fingers crossed for this year. now the snow has almost completly gone thought id stick a snow free pic of the pond on.
ive been busy changing the shape of the edge so its easier for frogs / newts to get in and out also pulled the rock area apart and tidyed up a bit. i have also now got my first batch of frog spawn :) and am looking forward to the tadpoles.

Hi J, love your pond, good job you have done there. I have one concern, you may need to move the Birch a fair bit away from your pond, the roots may puncture the liner. Just a thought.
