Cleaning a new pond

So, I made a new pond recently that has been occupied by tadpoles, a toad, a few Water Snails and some bathing House Sparrows; hopefully signs of a successful pond. However I've noticed a green algae forming on the surface of the pond. I remember reading somewhere that you have to clean this out the first few times until the pondlife does this itself. But how do I clean the algae away? Any replies are much appreciated!

The pond as of today, looking pretty good if I do say so myself.

Also got round to sowing some of these! Hopefully attracting more wilflife, as always!

  • Looking at the picture now, I know that there is a lot of liner showing but I'm hopefully going to get some reeds and other plants to cover that. I'm no proffesional so I was bound to make a couple of rookie errors :)
