Hi MP. I have just cleared out my clay-lined pond in favour of a liner. within a week of filling the new pond from our well, the water began to turn green, I have introduced three bails of Barley stray for the 120.000 gallon pond. Barley straw worked very well in the old pond but that had plenty of plant cover, the new pond has none yet but I will be planting this weekend in large Rubble buckets as will as floating plants. Barley straw wont get rid of existing algae but after the straw has been in for about three weeks it starts to leech out natural chemicals which prohibit new algae. Will from East Kent
