Blue tit mystery

Can you help? We have a blue tit box that is used every year.This year, when they started to nest we heard a continueous tapping from the box. This continued for a couple of weeks and then suddenly stopped, then the pair continued as normal. When the young hatched a sparrow started to take up position at the entrance to the box stopping the tits from entering or leaving. This seemed to happen mostly in the morning. We frightened the sparrow away a number of times, but it would return shortly after. While it stood at the entrance of the box it would make a continueous tweeting noise. Anyone with any ideas as to what was going on?

Don't think so, lots of sparrows around all the time, not happened before.

Hi folks, we had bluetits nesting in a box and they were very protective of the nest site chasing off sparrows and other bluetits, unfortunately we also have sparrowhawks as well and the female tit became a victim, the box has remained unused since. should I clean the box out for others to use? there is a nest inside, and it has been looked at by other bluetits but none have taken too it.
