Kathleen, to post photos, do the following.
At the top right off the page go into settings, open the advanced tab and set the top box to enhanced. Then go into rich formatting, at the bottom right in the reply box and go into the 9th box along, the little green TV. Hit browse and pick the photo from wherever you have saved it. You may have to resize the two boxes to get it to fit. Good luck.

Really happy the little ones made it. I know what you mean about the parents abandoning the nest but in situations like this we don't know if they did actually abandon their chicks or if something happened to them. Please keep us posted re: how the chicks develop.

Hi there, the rescued chicks have all fledged into the big 'wild' world except one, the smallest who didn't make it. However, a good result all round. The pictures are hand feeding immediately after getting the box down and 30 mins later after being re-hydrated and a few Wax worm guts! I hope they continue to do well and hope you can see my efforts here Catlady and Marina P as I tried to post a pic or two!!!.

Kathleen, Thanks for your efforts to rescue the Blue Tit chicks and it is great to hear that all but one have fledged. I wouldn't think the parents intentionally abandoned their chicks, but think it more likely that they both came to grief by being predated by a cat or a sparrow hawk or something similar. Birds also sometimes are hit by cars as they fly across a street, or one or both may have flown into a window. The possibilities are many. As for the question of what happens if only one parent disappears, I will leave it to the experts on this Forum to tell us if a single parent could cope with raising a brood on their own. I suspect that might lead to the deaths of all of the chicks. You clearly did the right thing!

Great photos Kathleen, you've made my day! I agree with Ann re: the parents so your efforts were well required and you had excellent results. Glad the six made it. I didn't know about the art brush trick either - it's a very interesting one. We've given ORS to chicks before but using a syringe - is this what you gave them with the art brush?
