"The books" tell me I should be pruning my honeysuckle after flowering. If I do that, will I not stop them seeding, and thus, feeding the birds?

I cut mine back, if necessary, after all the autumn berries have gone, which should be quite soon now. The Honeysuckle remains perfectly healthy and produces two flushes of flowers, in spring and again in late summer.

My honeysuckles have berries on still so I shall be leaving them for the birds before attempting any pruning.
Don't forget that honeysuckle is extremely easy to grow from runners which have gone along the ground and rooted themselves! Have a look around the base of your plant and cut off any you find, then simply cut off each individual 'new' plant from it and pot up. I usually cut about an inch or so either side of the rooted bit and then place it on a pot of compost and just 'pin' it down to the surface using the inch or so of stem either side, Simple! And lots of new plants for free!!! :-)

Really easy to grow from the berries as well just put several in a pot with inch of soil on top and put in a sheltered place or cold frame and be very patient as they take quite a while.
