Greenfingers isn't really the place for me to post anything as I'm no good at gardening but I do have a question that someone may be able to help with -
I planted two types of potatoes in tubs earlier this year, a first early (sharpes express) and a main crop (maris piper). Unfortunately I moved the tubs and can't remember which is which! One of them has now come into flower, which I understand is the right time to harvest earlies but is it the earlies or maincrop that has flowered? Would I be correct in guessing that the earlies are likely to flower first?
In case its any help in distinguishing the varieties, the flowers are purple.
Cheers
Stoat
Hi
I grew some in tubs last year and started to take them too early.
Dissapointed with the crop so I would leave them till plants start to droop and die.
Not a gardner this is just my opinion

I always recall that pink flowers/pink skins and white flowers/white skins, so if you know the colour of your seed potatoes originally there is your answer, hope that helps
