I planted this in the spring. The brown bits at the top appeared quite quickly afterwards.
You can see from this one that there's plenty of new growth.
The question is:- should I cut the brown bits off?

I would, esp as it has done so well, new growth. I'd get shot of the dead wood so if there's another bad winter then these old dead branches won't break other branches as well as themselves.
A llovely plant with great seeds!! That will out live any of us by many a many year!!

Be careful when working with Yew as it is extremely bad if you get it in your eyes.....wear goggles or glasses and wear gloves if you can as it's nasty stuff....better safe than sorry!!
