Does anyone else here grow their own patio vegetables? I didn't do much last year but starting again this year. It's very easy to do. I'll be growing :
Beetroot (which didn't work last time)
Kale which grows brilliantly and tastes delicious
Carrots which I've had moderate success with but they didn't last long (I'm rather fond of carrots!)
Mini Turnips, had some success with these before but not much
Perpetual Spinach (and I may try proper spinach also)
And of course tatties which are super-easy and really tasty fresh from the pot!
And whatever other old seeds I find to stick in pots lol
What are other peoples patio veg plans?

Hi, I bought some special potato bags last year which have lift up sides so the spuds are easy to get to. I have to confess they are still in the packet though. Must try them this year and I love new potatoes.
Also need to actually build my patio as planned it and chose slabs last year then never got round to it.
Regards
Sarah
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

Every year we have mini lettuce mix(or something like that), which grows brilliantly!

Sarah,
I use those bags too though I think I may have lost one lol Though I have some large pots that may also be used for tatties as well depending on what else I plant up as even the tattie order for the bags has more tatties than can really be planted in the bags!

I got a set of 3 spud buckets and a selection of spud varieties to go in them from one of the fruit and veg supplier catalogues I get (can't remember which, but probably Thompson & Morgan or Dobies) and I have a lot of mini/columnar fruit trees on the patio. This year I'm going to try carrots in planters becauseit's so hard to get much to grow in my heavy, waterlogged and slightly too shady veg patch!
A closed mouth gathers no foot.
Hi KatTai
A friend has bought me a present of chillies in a metal bucket style planter, so I'm going to try those on my patio.
I also grow herbs in planters on my patio, and I have an olive tree that I also received as a present. They might come in handy. :-)
Best wishes Chris
