Hi everyone
My neighbour has moved and my new neighbour is totally uninterested in anything to do with wildlife or gardening (strange but true!). Anyway, the new neighbour has told me that any plants I would like from underneath their window, I am welcome to. Coming from London and now living in Dorset, I want to grow London Pride - Saxafraga Umbrosa I think it's called. There is some growing under the neighbour's window and I need to know if it's ok at this time of year to dig it up and put it into my wildlife flower patch? I would hate to kill it!!
Thanks in advance for any input.
When life gets you down, take a walk with wildlife and feel your heart sing again.
I am not an expert but If your neighbour is going to throw it away, I don't think you have a choice other than to give it a try. It is not the ideal time to move it, as it should be flowering around now, but if you must, then try and keep as much soil as possible around the plant without disturbing too much and transfer immediately to your prepared spot and feed and water. Good luck.
It should be ok if you make sure it has a good amount of soil round the roots and plant it right away and give it a real good watering . best time would be first thing in the morning or late evening .
Hope thats a help
Cheers
