Today I took some children on a leaf hunt round the playing field (about5mx5m) They managed to find 38 different types ranging from the giant leaf of Great Mullein, to a tiny daisy leaf!
The children loved it, but I was really stretched with ID The goosegrass caused shrieks of laughter as it was passed around on their clothes, and one young man climbed right under a bush for a speedwell leaf! It was hilarious seeing his wellies sticking out from the bush.
It is so easy to get children interested in the world around them. All you need is a piece of paper and a pencil, and a small patch of uncultivated land.
Well done Linda. Make nature fun and they hooked, hopefully for life
Of all creatures, man is the most detestable, he is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ~ Mark Twain
