Redwing frustration

Redwings are very rare visitors to our "front hedge", perhaps one every three years. On Sunday I had just completed my hour for BGBW and was entering my results when a single redwing appeared in my heighbours' apple tree. It was soon joined by a dozen others who, after a few minutes flew over my garden and settled in the horse chestnut just behind our garden. It was great to see them but what wouldn't I have given to be able to include them in my return?
