Redwings are very rare visitors to our "front hedge", perhaps one every three years. On Sunday I had just completed my hour for BGBW and was entering my results when a single redwing appeared in my heighbours' apple tree. It was soon joined by a dozen others who, after a few minutes flew over my garden and settled in the horse chestnut just behind our garden. It was great to see them but what wouldn't I have given to be able to include them in my return?

Hi Billy.
The bad news is you weren't able to include them in your survey.
The good news is you SAW them and not only one but a DOZEN.
Well done on seeing them.
Viv.
Its because they like their privacy! hehe
I had a small (8 or so) flock of redwings here, but they've been gone for a while now. Thought they might have moved towards or away their migration? No idea what their journeys are lol

hopefully someone down the road recorded them on their watch
I had a similar result, a flock of redwing and fieldfare circled the street but didn't settle at all. I didn't record them on the BGBW survey but I did enter the sighting on Birdtrack as birds flying over. I'd recommend doing the same!
