Oo-eep! Oo-eep! Who is this night-caller?

Hi folks. I don't have a sound file but wondered if anyone could point me to a candidate for a call that goes "Oo-eep! Oo-eep!" at nightime in rural County Durham? We're near forests, farmland and water.

Any help appreciated! Thank you!

Kirsten

  • Hi Kirsten

How about a female Tawny Owl. Anything like this with the male answering?

  • I regularly work in a rural part of County Durham and here tawny owls like this every night
  • Another possibility could be Oystercatcher. I hear them surprisingly often, flying over at night.

  • Oh my gosh ,YES! Thank you so much. This has been driving me mad, as I looked up tawny owls and heard the male song, assuming that was the only one. Thank you, you star!

You just made me blush. LOL. Nice to get one right from a description.
