Oo-eep! Oo-eep! Who is this night-caller?

Hi folks. I don't have a sound file but wondered if anyone could point me to a candidate for a call that goes "Oo-eep! Oo-eep!" at nightime in rural County Durham? We're near forests, farmland and water.

Any help appreciated! Thank you!

Kirsten

  • Hi Kirsten

How about a female Tawny Owl. Anything like this with the male answering?

  • I regularly work in a rural part of County Durham and here tawny owls like this every night
  • Another possibility could be Oystercatcher. I hear them surprisingly often, flying over at night.

Oh my gosh ,YES! Thank you so much. This has been driving me mad, as I looked up tawny owls and heard the male song, assuming that was the only one. Thank you, you star!
