Welcome to the RSPB Communities Christmas Advent calendar! Rather than chocolates (sorry), with each day that leads up to the big day, why not open a virtual Advent calendar window and reveal a teaser for you to ponder or post a picture. There is no right or wrong answer, the answers will simply be what you want to appear in that window. It’s Christmas, so let’s have some fun!Claire
I say starlings as we have a lot in the garden among Mr. B and robins. Reserves Minsmere for the wildlife and lovely food they have., and Flatford wildlife garden in Suffolk and handy to get to, when it opens next year.

DAY 3:What bird would you most like to see?
This one is somewhat easier to answer as I have never seen a Bearded Tit and after seeing Whistling Joe's gorgeous photos of them earlier in this thread, I can't wait to nip up to L.Moss :)

I'd love to see a Black-shouldered Kite. Our young pal, Charly, saw one passing through earlier this year & phoned us but we were out. Grrrrrrr! It has also tried to nest a bit further North but its location is a highly guarded secret so it won't get disturbed (which is fair enough). It's obviously moving further North & is quite common in Aquitane now, so it's a realistic wish!
Best wishes

Kingfisher, even though they are around parts off East Anglia, I have never seen one.
A magnificent raven - locally. I'd also love to see a merlin - anywhere!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
