Recently moved house from rural setting but with adjacent roadway and housing to very rural adjacent forest, SSSI site with rear garden overlooking blanket of green ferns and trees . Previously on our feeders, numerous birds of all species - tits/robin/sparrow/ even jay and woodpecker - now, on new feeders - NOTHING - not one of the above. Why??
Possibly an abundance of natural food. Possibly previous inhabitants had cats/guns. Any number of possibilities, those were 1st two to come to mind
Another reason is that August is generally a very quiet month to see birds as it is also the moulting season when the adults lose their now worn out and tatty breeding season feathers as new ones grow through; during this time birds are a lot more vulnerable to predation as flight feathers are also moulted and thus they tend to hide away more until their moult is complete.

Having moved a few times over the past 12 years, we found the same, but constant feeding (putting food out) they eventually come, don't give up. Autumn/Winter is coming when they will be looking for easy food sources.
Birds have foraging routes. It can take them a bit of time to find new/available food sources.
Thank you to everyone for the responses. We are just astonished that having moved only half mile that we have gone from everything to nothing. Thanks again
