Hi,i have a young Buzzard in the garden (the garden has a small forestry) the parents have now gone ,it sits on the ground part of the day but seems to fly fine,its still calling most of the time and just worried as its all alone now,is this normal?
Adults should be about - they are probably doing a bit of parental tough love - listen out for their call response - as long as it is able to get up in the air and is spending time flying/feeding/learning to hunt that sounds good - I get to see buzzards local to me and watch the youngsters doing circuits and bumps while they learn to use their wings and find thermals - parents are often in attendance and there is always a running commentary of complaints from the youngsters

Thanks for the response,The parents were here with it last week,but both have left now,it is flying onto trees but not flying freely in the sky?there is also no call back when the youngster is calling ,just hope its been taught to hunt for itself
This I find odd - Our Common Buzzards tend not to be migratory as rule and are actually territory faithful.

Buzzards take around 50 days to fledge from hatching and are then dependant on adults for another 40 or so. Hopefully it just feels safe in your garden while it grows and strengthens
