Lone blue tits

We have in the past has success in having blue tits raids their families in our box. But for the past 2 years a blue tit has moved into the box on his/her own and sleeps there overnight, so we never get a pair. We put the box up in March/April. What can we do to encourage a pair? Thanks

  • Basically nothing Susan except to cross your fingers that the one who is roosting manages to pair up but getting a bit late for breeding this year!  If there was another pair who decided they wanted this box then they could fight the resident for ownership but that could be quite nasty to watch!
