After being away since about 3.30 pm yesterday the forum is back. It seems to have come back at about 1.30 am today.

Agreed it is very slow but it has been like that for some time now.....like weeks.
Grr!!! Yesterday from early afternoon, even this morning it is again so slowwwww.
Yesterday I managed to get to main RSPB page but anything to do with LG ...no way, .
Hmm!!!!! (I must stop those intruding nasty thoughts about vendetta CHOL:):)
It seems even slower today than the normal slowness to which we have slowly become accustomed I meant :-)
It would be interesting to sit down with the RSPB's IT department to find out what's going on. I test this sort of stuff for a living and it's unusual to find such long standing problems unresolved
I believe the problem started when they lost the key to wind it back up again, and then to aggravate things, the "back up" rubber band snapped.

Ahhh, that might explain it! I might be able to help here, mending old clocks is a bit of a hobby of mine; I've got all sorts of old keys knocking around the shed. If someone tells me what size key's required, I'll go take a rummage around!
:-)

EDit Just read your post WHISTLING JOE So perhaps between it we can offer to repair the system
I hope things drastically improve now chicks are starting to appear and all the frantic postings that generates.....or is that pie in the sky?
Let me say I am one of those people who thinks this software is FANTASTIC. It just runs far too SLOW a lot of the time.

I found the site 'down' at about 4 30 and rang the Web Team who I have been in contact with before.
The Community pages are hosted and dealt with by a separate group and they are and have been aware of a problem for a long time.In essence there are plans to improve and tweak the system but it is a question of finance. When the 'error' notice comes up it means that 'our' site has been diverted to the main RSPB site. Yesterday of course that did not happen hence my call to them. I will try and find out today if possible what the current situation is.
Birdies LG DU update.
