I posted a week or so ago that I was having difficulty in signing in to the forum unless I did this via the RSPB Home page. The difficulty seemed to sort itself out but now again I have to sign in through the RSPB Home Page. ( I keep signing out through habit).
Tonight, when I posted a couple of replies on the forum, the magic circle kept whirling round on the open reply box but the posts did appear to be registered as I received the automated emails confirming this.
I seem to be unable to refresh the pages unless I close down the site and then re - open.

You aren't alone Claire. I had to give up earlier today. I struggled to open the main Community page from the link on my PC even though I was signed in. A lot of patience and a cup of tea later, it opened.
When I posted replies the little buffer cog went round and round and round, although my post had gone through. (I had 2 windows open so was able to check)
Cheers, Linda.

Linda, I have been attributing the technical difficulties to my computer which undoubtedly needs updating, but your experience does seem to confirm that there are gremlins in the forum which clearly don't affect every user.
It isn't your computer, Claire. I think it often depends which server you end up on.
EDIT. I have no problem at the moment.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
We've had some technical issues with one of the servers, so maybe that is the cause, i'll forward your comments on to our technical team to check although it's being looked into at the moment.

Thanks Ian.
How many servers are there now? I know there must be at least two because in the list of members on line we only see the names of members that are logged in to the same server as ourself. We don't see the names of everyone currently logged in.
Update time. The maintenance with our system was carried out at midnight last night, the guys have checked our system and not found any issues with our system that could explain the difficulties you were having yesterday evening.
It sounds like it could be just another case of one of the pitfalls of the internet, there is no guarantee that the route from one site to another will work every time. Its an unavoidable hazard that some connections don't work as fast as others. If I get a slow connection to a website (not just ours), I just close the window and open another. It doesn't work every time but often does.
Oh yeah, we have 3 servers apparently.
Thanks for the update, Ian.
