I have just tried to post a link in answer to a thread but the icon is greyed out,
I could of course type it in as text but that is not a very elegant solution.

Pssst! Nudge nudge Wanna see some pictures Here
Hi Mike,
Did you use the Rich Formatting? If you click on that when you reply you will see the link icon.
Cheers, Linda.

Hi Linda yes I nearly always use the rich formatting, I can see all the icons but for some reason the link icon is greyed out
Did you highlight the words you want to link?
oops! mouth in gear brain in neutral, egg on face etc. Linda thank you that was the problem.
Have a lie down in a dark room, I find that usually works for me. LOL.
Still have a problem with inserting links. I do highlight the internet address or words and do use rich formatting but the link symbol remains greyed out. Probably I am doing, or not doing something obvious but the process remains a mystery to me.
It is also a mystery as to where I should post this comment - under chat - under website feedback - technical problems - under about??
This forum really needs a bit of streamlining, a FAQ or Help page consolidating all these issues?

Say I wanted to make a link to Google. I would go to Google and draw the cursor across the address in the address bar. Then right click it and a menu will come up. You choose <copy> and that stores the link in the clipboard.
Now you write the text of the sentence you want to put the link in.
Like I want to make say Google the posh link in this sentence.
Draw the cursor across the word "Google" and you will find that the link symbol will highlight.
Then click the link symbol and a menu box will come up.
In this example there is BBC in the box. You got to clear the box either by wiping out the text in the normal way or by highlighting it and then pasting the contents of the clipboard into the box.
I then normally change the target box to open in a new window.
Click <insert> and JOB DONE.

The proper name for a Posh Link is Hyperlink. Claire's problem was the link she wanted to copy was already a hyperlink. To get the URL from a hyperlink you have to right click and select Copy link location then paste that as described by Tiger
