Contact a moderator direct??

Hi All,

Apologies but not sure where to post this one....

Who is in charge of decision making for this site and how would I go about contacting them? Or do I go through a moderator?

Basically I was after a copy of some of my old threads and as you can't copy & paste I was hoping there might be a way to access and copy your own old posts or be given temporary permissions to do it???

Cheers

Higgy

  • Hi higgy50, let me know if you get on ok or not with the 'snipping tool' that doggie has suggested, it certainly seems to have worked, so worth a try. I went to my profile page and having scrolled down my 'Activity', i was able to access old threads and posts and copy and paste them. IF you're still struggling give us shout and i'll see if one of the techies can advise!

  • hi higgy50

Your old threads are all still available on the site, even if they are no longer active - to find them, either :

    • page back through the activity list on your profile page, clicking the "show more" link when you get to the bottom
    • do a search on the subject of the thread - or any keyword you remember.

I'm not sure what you are planning to do with them, once found, but if you click on "Favorite this thread" on the RHS of the page (while viewing the thread) it sets up a link to the thread from your profile page.

You can copy and paste thread content to other software e.g. Word, or indeed save individual pages to your own PC.

I know you can't "copy and paste" into the reply boxes - at least, I get told that the paste function isn't supported by my browsers, Google chrome and IE*. However, there is a work-around; highlight and copy the required text, then use Ctrl + V to paste it into the reply box. Hope this helps.

    * Graham Bird - any idea why this should be?  Is it something that could be corrected?

  • Glad to see you're going for it Higgy, hope you find them all:)))

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

  • Good luck Higgy - it may be a long job, but I have managed to copy and paste old threads to a word doc without much problem, although it can be time consuming!

    Cheers, Linda.

  • That's great, many thanks for all your advice, I will now see if I can do it.....if I can find that "snipping" tool...never heard of it prior to now!...

Yes going for something Sarah not sure how it will turn out though or where I'll find the time....it's 01:41 now as I'm writing this, let alone writing even more!! LOL

  • Right here I am again....

Best way is... find the post that you want in your activity, save it to 'Favorite this thread', go back to your page open it up in favourites, highlight what you want, right click "copy" and then "paste" as normal into a word document.

This is the easiest way and is of good quality in Word (including photos!)

Still haven't a clue where the "snipping" tool is!!?

Well I thought I'd do one to see if it works......17 posts later....03:17am!!!!!!

  • Ahhhh.....it all makes sense now, I am on Vista but thought you were talking about a "snipping" tool on this site!!! Dohh!....sorry about that but it was rather late when I was trying to sort this out last night!!

  • Higgy get some sleep, you don't need to get it all done today, LOL. I hope you manage to find all of your great post adventures :))

LOL

  • That would be great. I forgot about clock so am not as behind as I thought:) still better get a move on now and make the most of the last day of half term
