Help please! I have a problem on the main blog site in that I cannot post any comments. I have no comments box even though I am signed in. Hope someone can help. Only happened a few days ago and comments box not come back - obviously not a nationwide problem! x
Hi Lesley, sorry you're having problems posting. I've had a look at your account and can't see anything wrong from our end. I'm afraid I can only suggest you do the usual things - have you tried restarting your browser, clearing out your temporary files and cookies, etc.
Thanks Andy but I'm having the same problem on both my older laptop and my newer laptop and it's only just happened! We're going to try something. Also I have completely forgotten how to post on the ' daily update' and upload a pic. Help please there also! Thank you x
Hi Andy, we have tried IE and Firefox on both Pcs and I have now cleared temp files and cookies. There is a space at the end of the blog page under the page numbers but no 'comments box' - am absolutely baffled. Also, I've gone to my own page and I think that is where you could upload photos and things? Nothing - also all my photos have gone. It 's a conspiracy!!!!!xxx Any other ideas Andy?
Hi Lesley. Thanks for trying again. I've just worked it out. Certain bits of the community are organised into what are called groups. All of the reserve sections, including Loch Garten are set up like this. We set them up like this as it make them a bit like facebook pages that you can "like" if you're familiar with that concept - we thought it would be a nice way for people to show their appreciation for all the great work our colleagues out on reserves do. In order to post within the Loch Garten section including commenting on the blog you have to join the group. Similarly, all the groups you belong to are listed on your profile page - it's a nice way to show what you're interested in.
It's easy enough to join though - when you're logged in, visit the main Loch Garten community page (www.rspb.org.uk/.../default.aspx), and on the right hand side below the search box and navigation you should see a green "+" symbol labelled "join group". Click that and you should be in and free to post and comment within the group.

Hi Lesley... Bit of a long story... Because the osprey blog pre-dated most of the community, when we set up the reserve groups (when the community first went live - Aug 2009) we didn't set up a separate blog for the Abernethy/Loch Garten reserve. Unfortunately at the time, the software wouldn't allow us to group the osprey blog and the rest of the Loch Garten community stuff. With the upgrade this spring that became possible, so we "reunited" them. If you've posted on the osprey blog since the upgrade you must have been joined the group at some point, and subsequently left it in the last few days somehow. No matter you're back now!
