Hi
I wonder if you can help me on this one, prior to the change to the new forum I was able to access the forum see all the new postings and actually reply or post things myself from the phone. Since the change I can get to the forum and it shows the main page but none of the postings come up anymore I just get a message saying "loading activity" and thats as far as i get. I do not have a lap top and i really miss being able to access the forum when Im away from home and being able to read the postings or post myself, as in the case of the Hoopoe back in April, any ideas?
Regards
Shane

Hi Shane I went onto this site with my Nokia N8 and it was ok I was able to read your post with no problem if you can call minuscule text on a small screen no problem :-).
The first time it connected it showed the headers etc but no posts I refreshed the screen and all was well.

thanks for that unfortately it didnt work, the strange thing is the old forum loaded quicker on my phone that it did on the computer, now the new forum is faster to load on the computer but as I have already said I cannot use the forum fully on the phone.
Unknown said: I have the same problem on the nokia5800. The site activity won't load and if i try to post it looks like i'm shouting i can only type in uppercase.. I think those with IPADS can't see the webcams..the trouble is there's that many different systems out there they must all want slightly different code

When I first tried to access the old forum on the phone i could not make it happen, I cannot remember what I done if in fact i did do anything but another day I treid it and it worked fine including posting. Its funny in a way because its only now I realised how much I enjoyed visiting the forum even when out and about.
when it comes to mobile phones and the internet I am very much the novice. could the problem be the browser that you are using? mine is opera mobile
Mike
Good grief do you mean to tell me I have gotten something right for a change? There is a first time for everything I suppose :-))

Hi all,
I wanted to say thank you for your feedback on this issue. There's a lot of devices out there now - and a lot of operating systems and browsers. This makes it a pretty tough challenge catering for all the permutations meaningfully. In the bad old days of the web, this was a problem. It went away for a while as "web standards" came into play and web browsers all started to follow web standards, but the proliferation of devices, operating systems and browsers has recently brought this problem back - not all of them deliver web pages as they should in terms of applying web standards. This is made futher complicated as the devices have various screen resolutions and sizes, so designing pages that fit on all those is not always straightforward. But still we try :-)
So we've built the main website and the community site to operate in "web standards" - which is our best chance of you having success using the site, regardless of the device you happen to be using. But there may still be some that don't work perfectly.
We're looking into a mobile version of this and the main site to ascertain what improvements we can make. This may be forced behind some other improvements if they seem to bring about greater benefits to our community users, but we'll update you when we have a clearer picture of what we can do and when.
Thanks again for letting us know.
Kind regards,
Cliff
