How to use the Technical problems forum

The Technical problems forum has a few special rules that, if everyone follows, will make fixes happen more quickly and make it easier for others to discover the latest on outstanding problems:

  1. Read before you post. Look for a "Known issue" thread that sounds like the problem you're having. Duplicate posts on the same issue may be deleted without warning.
  2. Bear in mind that the Technical problems forum is not a chat forum. It is there solely to help everyone report new problems and find solutions to existing problems.
  3. Try to resist immediately replying with your own suggestions. In many cases it clouds and confuses the real issue. Please allow moderators to answer first.
  4. Try to avoid adding speculation or repeated complaints. This makes it more difficult for others to work out the current status of an issue. We know that sometimes it's frustrating but we are doing our best. If it's taking a long time to resolve this means it is a complex problem. If it was simple to fix it would have been done already.

Please bear in mind that time spent on the Technical problems forum is time we are not spending fixing the problem. So please help us fix problems faster by reading before you post.

In addition, we may lock threads in Technical problems if:

  1. the thread has gone off topic
  2. we do not need any more information to begin our investigation
  3. there is nothing new to add until we have investigated the problem
  4. a solution has been posted
