Woodpecker - for me, it can show italic font or normal font BEFORE the bar has even started to upload, and remains as that after it has uploaded.
Cheers, Linda.

@Woodpecker: I agree that there are two versions of the Browse box and why they made it this way is completely beyond me. I also agree that if you click Browse before it has changed to the longer one, you're on a hiding to nothing.
However, it seems that sometimes the progress bar doesn't appear even if you wait, so I think this is a red herring.
@Sparrow: That's useful. We thought italics meant "broken" but based on your experience it seems not. Unfortunately not everyone is as patient as you so regardless of whether it eventually works, the problem is the poor design and total lack of feedback/instructions.
Believe me we are just as frustrated as you about this.
Please keep the information coming.
Many thanks,
Graham

@Graham I've always had Italics pre upload then normal font post upload, and you're right, patience is required as the progress bar is sometimes very slow. Maybe Broadband speed can be a factor with that
Best wishes Chris

Patience is a virtue, Possess it if you can, Seldom found in woman, Never found in man.
I wonder what the man/woman ratio is as regards not being able to upload photos? LOL LOL.
Graham,
I wish I could spot a pattern but I'm afraid I can't. It used to work more often than not but in the last fortnight it began to fail regularly and has been unusable for the last 3 days.
I believe the green progress bar is a bodge by the software developers and bears little relation to the actual file upload progress. This used to be a common device in olden days.
The add photo to forum post feature also failed regularly and took several attempts in my experience.
I hope you signed a service agreement. If the fault is with their coding they should be compensating you handsomely for every hour of outage. ;-)
I really have to comment here. When starting this thread, I spent 30mins trying to upload a single photograph - now there's patience - and patience!
Last night when I had a normal connection to this forum, photographs did load, quite slowly. In that case, italics appeared in the title box changing to normal font during the loading process.
I'm back to 2-3 mins per load per page again this morning
Graham, I know you have advised that the issue of slow loading of pages and difficulties in uploading photos are not connected but there does seem to be a common factor in this regard.
Hi Graham,
I have to agree with Claire, only because I seem to be one of the few that hasn't experienced slow loading pages or difficulty in uploading photos, whilst others experience both at the same time.
(I did have a blip late last night with a slow loading page that eventually corrupted in as much as only the text showed - no navigation bar, avatars or the little icons next to posts; but I closed down and went to bed so don't know what happened after that, and its back to being normal today)
Hi Claire,
Thanks for the info.
For further info, Graham, when I am logged into the Slow site, the Search facility does not work. There is no indicator in or beside the window to start the search process.
