The signature editor (on the edit profile page) should only allow plain text and links. However, currently other formatting (such as bold and italics) can be added through keyboard shortcuts. This formatting is not displayed when the signature is shown on forum threads.
We are investigating whether it is possible to prevent the addition of formatting through keyboard shortcuts.
