Hi-
is there a secret to this?
I browse-
select
set max width
hit insert
NOTHING
I re-browse, and get a green bar that takes 90 secs to fill
The computer shows uploaded
I get a red X square on the post
New method- THAT WORKS- so far
I browse
I select
I select a max height
I re-hit Browse
I get - " Click browse to select a file from your computer." In RED
I hit browse again
I GET the photo on the post !!
I hit post
That is a long-winded way of posting guys!

For advice about Birding, Identification, field guides, binoculars, scopes, tripods, etc - put 'Birding Tips' into the search box
I ignore the max width and just accept the default. It works for me.

I find it really easy by comparison
1) I click the photo icon
2) I Browse for the photo on my PC
3) I click Open the photo
4) I wait patiently for the green bar to fill and the Italic text to change to normal text and say uploaded
5) I click on Insert
I have never done anything at all to the size box, and have uploaded photos that are up to 3Mb. So far I have never had a problem
Best wishes Chris

I do exactly the same and have never had a problem. If you re-size your photos before you try to upload, they will upload far faster.
Cheers, Linda.

When I first tried uploading a photo I did it the way Seymour is doing and it is complicated and doesn't work for me either. The re-sizing thing was a nightmare! Then I noticed the photo icon at the top the thread which we used to use and which works the same as it used to and haven't had any problems since. I have only seen this icon when starting a new thread but I understand that it is there when replying to others if you use rich formatting. Haven't tried that yet though so cannot comment.

Yes, it works when replying if you use rich formatting. Just as it always did. I can't see there is any difference between the old forum and the new forum for uploading photos.
S - it's usually because you are trying to upload a very large photo!
IE: the photo in your 'Mystery Pic 2A' thread is over 4 and a half Meg!
I seem to recall that the limit is around 4mb on this Site.
Download some photo editing software and resize the image. I only upload 500kb or so images and I have had no problems whatsoever.
