If you have access to one of the above, it would be worth checking out the videos that have been posted by members. On a large screen TV, such as a plasma, the picture is streamed direct from your home network router to the recorder via an Ethernet cable and an HDMI cable to the TV. The normal functionality of the unit enables a better picture to be achieved using inbuilt software, by 'up-scaling' a standard DVD input and it seems to me that it is this process that makes the YouTube picture better and you also have better sound than a computer set-up. The literature supplied with the unit does not describe actual process of how this is achieved in detail, as far as network content is concerned, but, it works well in my experience. It also has Picassa for viewing slide-shows with music, of uploaded photographs, that are on the website and there are further developments to be announced shortly according to internet rumours.
