Squish List

Ladies and Gentlemen (and anything inbetween)

We have many posts with issues post upgrade, can we use this thread to collect them, more chance of getting things changed.

My biggest gripe, is the default resolution, the css frame is too large for the content (although very pretty)

Temp work around use the view function of your browser ( crtl and + will work on most desktop/laptops).

Mobile devices have their own way (usually a pinch on the touch screen).

It's both what you do and the way that you do it!

  • Another problem. When viewing a thread in a forum, the "breadcrumbs" are missing, allowing you to go back to the first page of the forum you are in. Clicking FORUM takes you right back to the list of forums.

Actually, this is now the last straw. I won't be posting on here anymore until this car crash of a forum is fixed and the navigation fixed. What a mess!

    This new forum is dreadful.

I tried adding [ b  ]  and then /b  ] without spaces to 'Best wishes, Chris' in my signature box and it did absolutely nada

As you would expect [ b]  /b] would do nothing  [ b] [ /b] would make it bold

the tip was for controling links :) you can also use it in the quick reply box

  • Yes, I realise that, Chris, thanks.

Could the mods please re-word "edit tags" somehow, so folk don't think it means edit the post? It does actually look like it means "edit" and "tags".

    Cheers, Linda.

Thank you thegoon.  This has only just occurred to me, I am a bit slow on the up take.  Every time I think I have got the hang of this, I get lost again.  Now to find the right place note it.  I may be some time.

Ian,  I agree with the comments made about the site activity list.  we don't really need to see about peoples update of profiles, friends etc.  That alone would cut the list down and make it easier to see what is going on.

I also agree with this. If we are interested in a particular person, we can go & look at their page as previously.

    :-)

    Seriously thinking about trying harder!

Whenever I sign out it always shows me logged on in the main community page.  Does this happen to anyone else.

It was the same on the old forum. You stayed showing for 10 minutes on there. It must be the same on the new one.

Do you realise the names on the list of logged on people is only half those that are logged on? They are the ones on the same server as you. Those logged on to the other server don't show. It is 50/50 which server you happen to log on to.

    Cheers, Linda.

I sooo.... agree, what a mess and a big dissapointment.  Everyone seems to be spending their time trying to use the new forum instead of enjoying it.

I won't be posting again either unless it is made simpler as I haven't the time or inclination to spend ages trying to find things.

Someone posted the other day of another site that is much easier to use, think I will be looking for it :(((

    What a wonderful world :))

  • About paging.......

At the risk of being a "paging pedant", I'd like to return to this query, which I raised before the change.

I have just been looking at the outcome. Well, the indication of paging seems the same across the whole forum now, but I wouldn't call it an improvement.

    • There are now no "First" and "Last" buttons in long threads like this one - just the double arrows which a lot of people don't understand.
    • highlighting of the pageno.is the only indicator of what page you are currently on.
    • There's also no indication of the total number of pages in the thread.
    • The paging is shown only at the foot of the screen - so if you suspect you're not on the page you want, you have to scroll down.

    *******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

In contrast, let's look at how this is done on this long thread on Birdforum.

First, there is a very clear paging bar, both at the top and the bottom of a forum or thread, which saves unnecessary scrolling.

There is also an indicator which clearly shows what page you are on, and how many there are in total.

There are clearly marked "First" and "Last" buttons.

Now that's what we need! These little things make the difference, between a Forum which is straightforward to use, and one which is irritating.
