Only just dawned on me there are no sticky threads on this forum.
For those that don't know, a stick thread is different to others in the fact that it is always at the top of the subject list.
Usual/y forum rules and ad etiquette, most frequently asked questions etc are "stickied" so that it is likely a new member will see this before posting a question that has been asked many times.
Some candidates I would like to see in this follow :-
1 Rules and ettiquette
2 Gear guides(for bins, scopes and cameras)
3 I found a baby bird
4 Roberts photo touch up guide
Come on you must have suggestions of your own :)

Hi mpie
The stickies are a great idea so that we all know where we stand with issues.
I will have a think about suggestions for the time being

Hi,there are a couple of stickies but thats all.
An optimist sees the beauty of the complete rose.A pessimist sees only the thorn .
Goodness me Mpiekp,
There are so many informative threads that get buried all too quickly we could end up with more stickies than normal threads!
However, I do agree this should be looked at. There are untold numbers of duplicate questions and a special place for Most Frequently Asked Questions would be great.
Cheers, Linda.

The "etiquette" thread has been stuck to the Hello forum.
I think what I'd like to see is a "How To" thread stuck to somewhere appropriate. Many newcomers struggle with things like how to post photos, how to make live links etc. Alternatively, something like FAQ's (frequently asked questions) which many websites have.

Well there is a place already for the "How Tos" - the Tips and Tricks subforum.
It could do with a bit of a spring clean by the moderators, as people have been using it to post wildlife related threads.
If experienced forum users can remember that they've recently answered one of the FAQ's about using the community site, in another subforum, perhaps they could copy it to Tips & Tricks for future reference.

Hi Sue
As you say, the Community does need a spring clean to move things to more appropriate places. On many forums it is done routinely on a daily basis.
Once everything was sorted out and put in it's correct place, then the moderators would be better equipped to see and deal with what needs to be sticky. :-)
Best wishes Chris

You are right, Sue. I knew had seen it before but couldn't remember for the life of me where it was. I think that's part of the problem. If helpful threads like that are concealed or not obvious newcomers have no chance of finding them. In some ways there almost too many forums. I sometimes find it tricky to choose the appropriate one to make a posting. The whole thing does need a bit of a tidy up.
Could have a sticky for the calendar competition Still having dificulty finding it.

LOL TJ,
I was replying myself when your post arrived, and was saying exactly the same thing.
You and I are both experienced members, yet we both admit to struggling to find the appropriate forum sometimes. It is no wonder newcomers struggle. I agree, there are too many, and some need more appropriate titles.
A good spring clean of the forums is needed.

Funny you should say that, Ray. I'd got some photos ready ready to upload and then couldn't find the gallery. In the end I had to find Sparrow's post before I could locate it. Nightmare.LOL
