Answering posts with IE9 no luck

I have been trying for the past week to get onto the forums and answer posts to no avail UNTIL I downloaded Firefox and put the Internet Explorer 9 away for a while.  I know which one I will be using from now on lol.

  • I did raise this issue a while back with on the tech forums. It is for some reason not possible to write in the text box on IE9. I too am now using firefox.

PS Have had no response form tech guys

  • Hi Sue

I use Mozilla Firefox all of the time now, and I don't usually have any problems with it.

In fact I don't think IE9 is compatible with my Windows XP platform.

    Best wishes Chris

  •  I did send an e-mail to RSPB which they duly replied but it wasn't any help. Trying to download IE 8 but it keeps telling me I have IE9 as thought I should be glad I have it lol. I think I will keep Firefox a while until they sort IE out.I have just realised that I haven't got my favourites which is a pain will have to have a good look at it.

  • IE9 is not live software as of this time - the release candidate was made available on the 10th Feb but is still liable to change due to bug fixes before final release

IE9 is known to have issues with certain older forum software which may be the case with these forums - hopefully this issue will be corrected with the update to the forum software due shortly

IE9 is not compatible with XP as this OS is now basically no longer supported by Microsoft

It is possible to uninstall IE9 and then install a fresh copy of IE8 there should be an option in the add/Remove programs If this is still a problem a search on-line for IE9 uninstall" or similar should provide lots of information.

    Hope this clarifies matters

    Best regards

  • Thanks for that Barman. I will have a go at it tomorrow. Its the same on Facebook everytime I go on their it comes up with the little box IE not responding grrrrr and then takes the page off and brings it back again. I always say computers are like cars they are great when running lol. I tried to answer you in IE but have had to go to Firefox that says it all lol.

  • If you still have problems after following the above advice drop me a note on my page including your Operating system and I'll see if I can check with some colleagues, as to the definitive method

    Best regards

Internet explorer is integrated into the os, so you wont need to reinstall ie8 just uninstalling 9-beta will leave you with 8.

  • Try Chrome... its even better than the Fox ;)

  • Well after my previous post today windows has installed the version of IE9 onto my computer and as you can see I can now answer posts with it and it seems to be even quicker than before so HOORAY lol. I shall still keep Firefox as a back up though lol. Google Chrome I did download and have never bothered with it may take a look later.

And don't use pre-release software again lol :)

In all seriousnous though, if you choose to use pre-release software (alpha, beta, rc, preview there are many names). it will most likely not be officially supported so any issues you run into, the onus is on yourself to find the work around until an official fix is found.
