how to paste a picture for avatar

Left click on the original picture and save as to your own pictures. Then you can load it via your profile page

Hi folks, I have just read this thread with interest and envy. Can anyone tell me how to upload a picture off my blacberry to use as avatar? I don't have a PC but I would love to have a picture of a teal as my avatar. PLEASE put me out of my misery - I'm going mad with envy! Thanks, Ness.

Not sure how to upload from a Blackberry but if you access the site via the phone the normal upload method on the profile page may work.

Workaround 

This is a method that works with PC to upload an image that is on the web when the forum software does not give a specific option to do this.

Options are here for Chrome but should work with other browsers

 

1. Find the image you wish to use on the Web 
2. right click on the image and select "copy image URL " or similar option.
3. On the forum use the required insert image option, ( either in the profile page or click on the insert media icon on the post editor).
4. Click the select image button
5. When the upload file screen pops up right click on the filename box below the list of files and select paste, this will enter the URL you copied in stage 2 above
6. Click "open"
7. The window will work for a second or two and then close, it will display just the actual file name in 
8. Complete the insert command and the web image will be inserted as if it was an uploaded image fron you local pc

 

The above is a function of the forum software so should work for all browsers but the actual command names may differ

As this option will allow you to add any suitable web image you should only use images that you own or are not prohibited by copyright. please respect the rights of the original artist / photographer

All my own images are posted under the creative commons licence so feel to use anything you wish ;)

 

Hi barma! Many thanks for taking the time to reply. I don't know if its total useless ludditeness on my part or sheer bloody mindedness on the part of my blackberry but I can't even access the change avatar page successfully. There are a few other things it won't let me do like join groups and update voice. I will keep trying and thanks again, Ness.
