Can somebody tell me why I am not getting the Osprey routes on Google Earth anymore.
I have reinstalled Google Earth and re added the data but still nothing. Been bugging me for a while now.
Thanks in advance.
Here's tae us
Some more details about this problem. I have also been following the Loch Garten ospreys on Google Earth for the last 18 months ; but now, when I open GE, the Loch Garten Ospreys folder fails to open, and I can no longer see the ospreys’ routes or their icons.
There are also problems with the Loch Garten Tracking Page – http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/tracking/lochgartenospreys/index.aspx
(1) The More... link under Frequently Asked Questions leads to an error 500 – Internal Server Error.
(2) The Find out more... link under Google Earth leads to an error HTTP 404 – the resource cannot be found.
I know this isn’t just a problem with my own computer, as the Google Earth problems have been confirmed by 3 other members of the LG Group and a Finnish osprey forum! They appeared around the time of the server upgrade on 14th December, so possibly there might be a connection. Could you please confirm, that this is being looked into? Many thanks.
P.S. I understand there are similar problems with the tracking of the Mull White-tailed Eagles.
Hi both,
The Google Earth tracking for both loch garten and mull eagles should start working again in a few days. It is a technical problem with our new site and not your computers.
Apologies for the confusion and inconvenience.
The other issues have been resolved.
Best regards,
Graham

Many thanks Graham.
Edit: Just in the nick of time, as I see there is an article about the tracking, in the new edition of Birds magazine.
Well i hope it gets fixed before the return migration.

Graham - could we have an update on your reply of Jan 13th above please.
Do you believe the problem is fixed - because it isn't - or is it still on someone's "to do" list?
When will it be resolved? Many Thanks, Sue C
Here, here.
I am trying hard to be patient (yes a contradiction in terms) but i have also been waiting 4 MONTHS just to get a reply on whether it will be even possible to track Shelly and Midge on GoogleEarth.
Please can we have some time schedule? Are we going to have it running before the return migration?
Hi all,
We are waiting for an update to the web server - hopefully this will be completed today.
Prasad - apologies if you have been waiting four months for a response. I'd be interested to know whether it was a forum post or something you e-mailed - so we can work out what went wrong.
:)
Fantastic news. Does that also include Midge and Shelly?
The thread was at
http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/blogs/mulleagles/archive/2010/09/13/welcome-to-the-class-of-2010-introducing-shelly-amp-midge.aspx?
Many more of my reminders did not get published even though i was always polite.Debby just didn't know what i was on about.
A couple of weeks ago i heard from Dave Sexton that he would check up on it but still i received no reply.
Of course we all understand you are busy and doing fantastic work.
Thanks,
The Google Earth files are working now. Please right click on the item in the Places box and click the Refresh option to update the file.
All the best,
Weh hey,
Brilliant.
