Anybody tried to post or answer a post using the iPad? Its strange that on all the MAC forums it works perfectly but not on RSPB forum.
Good Luck David,
I covet and Ipad, but definitely don't need one. I find facebook and twitter all work fine, but there are actual apps for them, perhaps the RSPB would consider making an iphone app. That would be cool

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn...

What I stil don't understand is that this does not apply to all forums . . . . in my case it is only the RSPB that is affected, things like Facebook and FlickR and Twitter all perform or are they not true forums ~ I don't now. The real point is that the iPad and my birding requirements go together so well and save me carrying a laptop, with a mifi I am connected. Thanks guys, David

Hi David,
As you have quite rightly stated Facebook and FlickR and Twitter are different from Forums, they utilise coding that the iPad supports whereas it would appear that the iPad does not support the main software used to create Forum sites. which is by the way something called vBulletin,. (used on several sites on which I moderate, (100000+ Members))
From my quick research today I believe that Apple are working on a solution to this issue but without an actual target date stated - it may be included in the next update to iOS., but of course only Apple know for sure.
Hopefully you will be in the field with your chosen hardware very soon
Best regardsNigel

Many thanks, a bit of inside info is always helpful. I like the iPad, mostly because it is so light and slips in a backpack. Iit is a good tool.
Again thanks for the info ~ you don't happen to know when the new Sigma 300m /2.8 OS is going to hit the streets, by any chance . . . . . .
Have a good day, David
SLR Lenses are not something I have inside information on I'm afraid, I have my Lumix FZ45 that meets my photographic needs and is pocketable at a push, (and large pockets lol)..
If and when I do go to dSLR the Sony Alpha range appeals as it has the OS built into the body
I have just noticed that on the ipad when you select new thread it immediatley accesses the subject abd also tags area so taht it is only the actual text ox that does not work.
How can that be ~ two boxes work and one does not. Very strange.
David
Morning David, and a happy New Year :)
From a technical point of view the boxes are different - The tag and subject boxes are single line text only entry points, whereas the actual editor box is a multi-line entry point that also accepts codes (for inserting links Etc.).
The technology used for this on this, and many other forums, to eneble this rich text entry, is what the iPad / iPhone has the issue with. The issue is known by Apple's Technical boffins, but is not the top of their list at the moment.
