As you may be aware our website and community will be getting a hardware upgrade, this means significant improvement to the performance of the site, as part of our commitment to improve the quality of the community. This is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 14 December. The community will experience some down time from 6 am until lunchtime. We hope that this will go ahead without any technical difficulties, so fingers crossed we will have a faster and much improved place to talk about nature and wildlife. Sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you all your positivity.

Tom is al the forum data going to be copied across to the new system? Are our registrations going to remain intact too?

Tiger, my understanding is it's a hardware upgrade not a software upgrade, the site should remain the same, just more reliable and less quirky. improved load times etc....
Then they start to tweak the software to add more functions and the cycle starts again...

No problems with the down time, all in a good cause, but, like Tiger, I am wondering if all will remain as is with improvements or will we have to start all over again?

As I understand it we are moving from one set of servers to another and to a different provider. Both of those things provide plenty of scope for problems. However hopefully everything will be working fast as from Tuesday afternoon.
