A number of my images have gone, and been replaced with a blue square and ? mark, when I click on the blue square I get a page not found message.
Two threads in particular are ; Just pics no comments and ? for mikeakabigman.
Also I had the community page bookmarked, but today when I clicked on it I got the RSPB join up page.
Am loosing patience now...no point in posting images in threads if they are going to disappear :-(
Often I have limited time to have a look at the forum and can't waste it by searching for stuff when there are bad links or page breaks
Very disappointing
Kind regards,
Mike

I'm really irritated , so I've mail sent a message to the webmaster section as well, but this is the technical problems thread.

I don't quite get your point....but I'll take it as a joke
Hi Mike,
It is in fact just a joke, aimed at the RSPB techies....as I used to be an IT Support guy in a previous life. I hated the problems of trying to work with inferior IT kit and having to put up with Management not giving us a proper budget. So I know how they feel.....
Frustrated wasn't the word.
But I also understand your frustration. Everyone has had to put up with a slow Site from the off. But I believe that they are upgrading to new, improved kit next week. So fingers crossed! Expect Site downtime for either installation or teething probs....
I would also hazzard a mention that it won't always be the Servers, sometimes personal PCs (especially old ones) and/or ISPs and/or line speed can affect performance.
If you were offended by my 'joke' then I unreservedly apologise.
Best wishes, Graham

Thanks Graham, sorry for my rather short comment last night, no, I was not offended by your post, but rather just tired and irritated at having lost so many images from a number of threads.
In the light of day, I quite understand your point. :-)
Yes, I have to say our line speed isn't the fastest but I judge the site by its performance against many other sites that I frequent and this one is as I've said elsewhere, the slowest and most unstable.
As far a computer is concerned I have a very fast, quad core 27" Imac with loads of ram,big hard drive and fast processor speed, if this one can't handle anything thrown at it nothing can. :-)
Cheers
Roll on next week with the new set up, I say!
My laptop is now starting to feel its' age - like me! I am thinking about getting a Mac instead of this old Windows one. Only I am not too familiar with Macs.
Would you recommend one as opposed to a Windows one? I've heard that they are more reliable and durable.
I would be grateful for any advice!
Thanks, Graham

If you get the getting the dreaded blue square it means that something is wrong with the RSPB webspace. An alternative method of posting pictures is to post them on your own webspace (people use various places like Photobucket) and then you can paste the image into you post here at RSPB.
Like so
Of course we all move to a new world in only four days time and no doubt everything will work perfectly.

Thanks very much Tiger, I did know about posting from my own webspace, but what I can't understand is why only my images have gone, while others in the same thread are still there, most puzzling.
