For the past couple of days I have been recieving emails from these forums in gobbledy gook for example:-

Soemetimes they come in a cluster every minute or so yet I can't find where they are coming from.Is anyone else getting them! 14 in the last few minutes.

When I actually post I get the notification in plain english as per usual.
Just had another 22 in the last 2 minutes!!
Go to the "My Page" link at the top of the page. Somewhere in your account settings there is an option to disable email alerts. That will stop you recieving any from threads you comment in from that time forward.
As for why they are gobbledy gook, alas, not a clue! ;o)

Thanks Ponty Cyclops have done that now,don't know why I get all the gobbledy gook ones as amongst them I get the 'proper' notifications!!
Will let you know what happens,maybe something to do with the upcoming transfer to new servers or whatever?
The whole site has been a bit mad for the last few days - looking forward to it being sorted out, soon.

Sincerest apologies for this! This has been happening because our new servers are being tested to destruction before we put them live.
Unfortunately the IT team forgot to turn off the e-mail notifications - hence the battery of e-mails you received. I have been assured that this has now been sorted although you may still get a few more (e-mail delivery can take some time and there is nothing we can do to recall e-mails once they have been sent).

I got about 20 'gobbly gook' ones but they all went into my spam file. All the others were normal.

Just to say I found over 80 gobbledy gook RSPB emails in my spam folder this morning !

Doesn't seem to be affecting me but then I suppress all email messages except those generated by comments to "My Page".
