Hi,
it takes sooooooooooo long to load a small pic of 4.2 mb that the page times out!!

I am not sure that 4.2mb could be called a small picture. When I got my first PC I went for the "big hard drive" which was all of 40mb. I had that computer for 9 years.

my mistake - it was actually 28 mbs :))) - maybe that makes it worse?

How do you get a picture that large? I am not sure I have ever seen one so big. Perhaps you should show us :) :) :)
the post of the starlings that were mistaken for nutcrakers had a photo of 57475 bytes, did I miscalculate my size? Mine was only 28928 bytes and I often post bigger than that.
57475 bytes is about 57KB. That is tiny.
28928 bytes is even smaller. You would say it was 29KB
HI,
my mistake, so I repeat, it's even worse if it takes that long to upload something that small :(
Do not worry as there is a major glitch going on. I was thrown out a few minutes ago. I do not think that has ever happened before.
You are right about it being worse than thought.
True that there are a lot of hiccups going on here, and hopefully the on-going problems will be resolved soon with the new software coming our way.
I find i have to continually press the 'X' art the top right hand corner of my PC page go out of the RSPB Forum, and then go back into the RSPB through the URL link
The time out facility is the worst, so now if I type a long post I copy it onto the clipboard in-case I get fired out of the Forum.

I don't understand MBs and KBs, but just loaded the two in my 'Hello' thread, which are a reasonable size, very quickly. Haven't noticed any problems with the site, but my PC slows sometimes when Photobucket is open because there is some sort of a script running, it says. I also run short of ROM... or do I mean RAM? Windows then tells me that it is increasing its size!
