When using the Chrome browser I've found that some sound clips from the Xeno-canto website of bird songs won't play. Or rather they will play but I can't hear the sound. So for example this one appears to play but for me no sound is produced.

However, this one not only plays but I can hear the sound as well
They are both mp3 files and it's only in Chrome that this occurs. It's the same if I play them directly on the Xeno-canto website.They both work perfectly well in Firefox. Anyone else encountered this problem?

I can hear them both TJ I know it may sound daft but is the sound turned down on the first one for some reason for you.

No, Alan, the volume is at the max. Can you hear them both in Chrome?

Yep on the laptop I only use Chrome.
It's very weird that I can hear some but not others. Funny thing is that the ones that I can't hear in Chrome don't produce sound in Windows Media player either whereas they will in VLC Player. I'm baffled.
What windows version are you using, I'm on win 10.

So you need someone running the same to see if it's a software glitch.
How about amending your title to include win 7.

Hi Tony I've just tried them both with Firefox and Windows 10. Like you I can't hear the first one but can hear the second one, very odd.
