What could be wrong with our robin? He seems to get by, he survived the snow and he seems to get his share of food but he has been slowly losing his head feathers over the past few months. He now looks like a vulture. I have been trying to get better photos of him but he is very shy, and doesn't stay around for long.
oh so it looks like he may be ok in a few weeks, good.
Hey farmer, farmer, put away the D.D.T now. Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees, please!
Well done cds for the link.
It gives a good explanation of possible causes.
Whilst ringing, I have encountered a number of species that have had bald heads. Blue Tits, especially during the breeding season. You also get to a lot of parasites, mites and flat flies that live on the birds.

Nature Is Amazing - Let Us Keep It That Way
Thanks for all the comments. I will keep watching, just to see if he starts to get his feathers back.
The poor little chap. Do keep us posted on how he is faring, please.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Yes I will. It's nice to know that there are other people out there who care. I haven't seen him today but it has been raining and he was very active yesterday. I expect he is having a rest. :-)

HI pprior, how is your poor robin, have you seen him lately, fingers crossed I hope he is doing alright.
There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed.
I haven't seen him for a couple of weeks now and I fear the worst, but I keep watching the garden in the hope he will appear. Perhaps he's found a different food supply, but it is unusual as he was here every day for a long time.
Oh poor little thing. Lets hope he has. You do worry about them though when they don't show up, I didn't see our Song thrush yesterday, he has been getting mobbed by the Blackbirds, and I was getting worried about him, he turned up this morning though.
