Robin nesting in unsafe place, should I remove?

Hi all, I have a  robin nesting in a hose reel on the side of the house, right by my back door/recycling area. It flew out when I went out there earlier -- I had thought it had abandoned the nest a couple of weeks ago so hadn't altered our use of the alleyway. I'm happy to not use the hose reel and try to take our recycling out through the house so as not to disturb it BUT I really fear for it nesting there. It's only a couple of feet off the ground and there are predators in the garden -- cats come in (to use it as a litter tray mostly) fox poo is often found on the lawn and our neighbour saw a massive rat in his garden recently. So although I'm loath to, I'm wondering if it would be best to remove the nest before the robin lays any eggs in the hope it will find somewhere safer?
