Losing Homes

there have been at least 10 large conifers cut down this week in a neighboring field and i'm very concerned about the birds and their nests and bats, what can i do?

  • Shame about the conifers! Birds are always flying in an out of conifers where I live. I take it the tree gives good protection and shelter...

    Cheers, Jason

  • So sorry to hear about the conifers being cut down, it is so frustrating when habitat like that disappears (unless there is a very good reason) and I guess nobody checks to see if there any nests in their before they cut the trees down :(    not that that would stop them.    We have a few smaller species in the garden and also Taxus which the birds love to perch in.

  • There was a large family of magpies that used the conifers to hide from the buzzards. The doves & pigeons homed in them. The trees were not checked for nests prior to cutting and have now all been burned!! Not only have they lost their homes but they are also now covered in ash!!

  • Would it not be too early for most nests?

It's not always easy to hug a hedgehog.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't.
