Have any of you lovely people out there read about the possibility of local authorities selling off allotments for housing stock ?
I read about this in my local paper "The Huddersfield Examiner" on Saturday 4th August.
This is just the sort of money grabbing scheme any cashstrapped council or private landlord would do.
The thought that we might lose a uniquely British part of our lives is appalling on its own but the most disturbing aspect is the loss of wildlife and habitat.
Birds, Butterflies, Moths, Hedgehogs, Insects etc, etc. Need I go on ?
If you know of any such schemes in your area please voice your angry opinions and let the RSPB know. Better still, "Badger" your local council and MP to put a stop to this before it goes any further.
Stand up and be counted !!

Our local society have a very long lease on the plots so no worries here.
