Millie & Fly the Border Collies
Oh Kat how wonderful!
I used to work for the Gwynedd Bat Group and cared for lots of bats. It's a wonderful thing to do. They are such lovely wee souls.
The only snag is that they get tame very very quickly and positively enjoy a cuddle in your hand. Makes it a very bitter sweet experience when releasing them again. The youngest one that was brought to me was a Common Pipistrelle. She was three quarters of an inch long. later that evening I had the wonderful experience of seeing an adult (probably her Mum but could have been an aunt) hearing the baby's calls from the wall where I had placed her, land beside her and take off again with the wee thing clinging to her chest! Magic!!
Anyone interested in this oportunity grab it with both hands! you'll never regret it!
Jenni
(known locally at one time as Bat Woman)
God gave us two ears and one mouth for a very good reason!
Jenni - that is very cool! It would be a great opportunity for someone that had the time to do it, unfortunately for me I work full-time and with my own animals to take care of bringing bats into the home probably wouldn't work too well lol But maybe someome else might take it up and share batty tales!
