I take great pleasure in feeding the wild birds, having about 8 feeders of various sorts also some old metal dog cages for ground feeders.
In the last week all the birds seem to have vanished, food remains in the feeders and no sightings. Not seen any ill like we did last year, no little bodies found.
Is there something going on that I haven't heard about.
Any comments would be appreciated.

All I have in my garden are sparrows wood pigeons and collared doves not that Im complaining as once the colder weather arrives more species will turn up. Dont give up on them and always keep some food out as some little bird might be desperate for some grub and your place might be the only place open :-)
A very old Shropshire Lad.
thanks, I was concerned as I do not recall them doing it before. My chickens miss them as they always pick up the loose seed below the feeders and they stand below waitinf patiently
Yes it seems to be "rest and recuperation"time for garden birds, ours are slowly coming back with the odd Coal Tit and Robin among the Collared Doves and Wood Pigeons. When we walk round the fields at the back of us there seems to be loads of natural food which is what they should be feeding on,once the promised cold snap starts I reckon they will be back.
