I started a thread back in June regarding an incident of hare coursing. Since then, the WPO and a local police officer have been very diligent in following up the incident and keeping me informed regarding developments in this case. Some progress has been made.
It was interesting to learn that reports of possible crimes made by the public to the police are graded on a scale 1 - 5, with 5 being the most serious. Hare coursing is graded at level 4 and should be dealt with by the police as a matter of urgency. Not sure if this is a local or national system.
My recent experience has really boosted my confidence that wildlife crime is taken seriously, at least in my area.

This is quite a coincidence!
After posting this thread I nipped out to the local shops and when I came back - look what was in the garden. OH had camera handy.
What a brilliant animal to have visiting your garden!
In your GARDEN!!!!!????? Oh my goodness! WOW! I would have been very excited! Superb shots!
I'm glad you are getting positive feedback from the authorities Claire, and it's excellent to read that hare coursing is given such a high grading.
Brilliant to have a hare in your garden!!!! MarJus will be green with envy.
Cheers, Linda.

Glad you got some feedback and the officer is keeping you in the picture.I know the officers in our patch try their level best but of course wildlife protection is not full time for them and at east 2 officers I know spend a lot of their own time on ivestigations.

Yes its great to have feedback - and to have visiting hares.
I forgot to mention that I was advised that the area would be patrolled more frequently as well. It is a very rural area with a network of minor roads and I can't ever remember meeting a marked police car on the unclassified roads here.
Well done Claire think you have done a great job, think the wildlife that will not be disturbed and Hares not chased would give you a big thank you.
