Nothing has really came out of these meetings for the last few years, anyone think anything substantial is going to happen this year (even though priority seems more to do with how it is run than whales!).
Do you ever think there will be a compromise, or do you think the decline in whale meat sales will soon make Japan give up the hunt anyway?
Do you support subsistance whaling in Alaska and other areas?
Do you think the IWC does anything useful to help whales?

Sadly Kat do not see any end as in my opinion it would stop overnight if the will was there and boycott put on goods coming from pro whaling countries.
Unfortunately, as long as money is involved, then I see no end either.... I support no whaling of any sort! No one in this world now needs the meat to survive!

Lets hope that something good does come of the discussions as the conservation of these key species should be a worldwide priority.
Whaling still goes on within Europe with Iceland and Norway (and the Faroe Islands) opposing the ban and declaring themselves exempt from it's restrictions, continuing the commercial hunting of mainly minke whales. This comes as a surprise to many people who see these countries as ideal places to head for whale watching cruises.
For interest there are a few groups campaigning against whaling that are worth looking into as many have active campaigns and suggestions about how everyone can help call for an end to whaling, see the links here, here and here.
